Let’s face it. Yoga does the body good! While yoga has been shown to improve muscle tone, enhance one’s ability to balance and lean out the figure, did you know it can also help promote beautiful skin from within? It’s true. Here are 5 simple yoga poses you can do right now to wake your skin up.

Downward-Facing Dog Vinyasa

The most well-known pose associated with yoga! This pose involves moving from a downward-facing dog position to an upward-facing dog position while deeply inhaling and exhaling. Given the movement involved, this particular pose has been shown to enhance detoxification and purification of the whole body and specifically our skin. So next time you are in the pose, remind yourself to enjoy extra benefits.

Utthita Parsvakonasana

Extended side angle pose, it involves using many essential muscle groups: legs, ankles, groin, chest, lungs, shoulders, spine, and the abdomen. Might be tricky for beginners but defiantly worth it.

Stand in a warrior pose and then turn your body sideways, placing one hand on the ground and reaching toward the sky with the other. Proven to open up airways in order to encourage detoxification and boost circulation to effectively awaken tired skin.

Urdhva Dhanurasana

This one is a real energy booster! Also known as the “wheel pose,” this yoga pose involves forming the body into an arch with the face pointed up to the heavens above. Since it boosts blood flow to the head, face, and neck, the arched pose rejuvenates skin to ward off fatigue and make you shine from within.

Commonly referred to as the “shoulder stand,” this pose requires you to lay flat on the floor and then lift your legs and core while keeping your shoulders and neck firmly on the ground. This stretching pose also heightens blood circulation, thus detoxifying and purging toxins that cause acne, wrinkles, and dullness. Also well known for hormone balancing benefits which defiantly influence your skin.

Or in simply “mountain pose”. Stand straight and reach your hands high to the sky, palm to palm in a somewhat praying pose. Believed to open airways, this pose replenishes the body with oxygen. When your breathing is clearer and enriched with oxygen, the body is able to better detoxify impurities that take a toll on skin.

Yoga is, of course, a great way to exercise the body and practice mindfulness. But it’s also a great way to maintain healthy skin. Incorporate the above poses into your daily yoga regimen and watch your complexion become clear, more youthfully radiant and smooth to the touch.
